The process of retiring over the last 12 months caused me to reflect on all the people who made a demonstrable difference in the directions I took, affected my beliefs, or changed/altered my direction. Some of you have heard many of the stories, but I decided to push this to a wider audience and publish here. This blog is designed with the express purpose of acknowledging those who should have been acknowledged and thanked more appropriately by me before, and to possibly help you in your lives and career by provoking thought, reflection and reading material that might well alter your career and life. Also, if it prompts you to contemplate and maybe even do the same, even better.
I feel I was extremely fortunate in two separate careers. While I worked harder than many, it was a series of fortuitous interactions that accelerated the process and many (not all) will be addressed over the next several months.
My wish/hope for you is that you reflect and maybe even reach out to say “thank you” before it is too late. If you know someone acknowledged in these stories, give them a "poke" as Facebook would say and let them know they made a lasting difference in at least one life. Lastly, please share with your friends or others you think might enjoy the thoughts. I do hope you enjoy reading the stories, as much as I enjoyed the trip down memory lane and all the reflection it provoked in me.
